How do I start using voice control?
Download VIMS from vims.com, install it, and say "Hello VIMS." That's it. Voice control is built in and enabled by default. No additional setup required.
Is it always listening?
No. VIMS uses a lightweight local wake word detector that only activates the microphone when it hears "Hello VIMS." This runs entirely on your machine — no audio is ever sent to any server. You can also disable wake word detection entirely and use push-to-talk instead.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Wake word detection and basic speech recognition work completely offline using local models. For more complex AI reasoning, VIMS can use local models through Ollama, or connect to cloud providers if you choose to.
What about my privacy?
VIMS is privacy-first by design. Voice processing is local. No telemetry. No analytics. No data collection. Your voice recordings, transcripts, and commands stay on your machine. Period.
Can I use it if I'm not tech-savvy?
Absolutely. That's the entire point. If you can talk, you can use VIMS. Say "Hello VIMS, help me organize my desktop" and it handles the rest. No menus to navigate, no settings to configure.
Is it really free?
Yes. VIMS is free to download and use. It routes through free AI models automatically. You can optionally bring your own API keys for premium models, but it's not required.
